Evil bewitched Lorwich, entangled everything around with its tentacles. Ominous fog, ghosts, vile creatures everywhere. Some of those living nearby say that an unclean force has settled there, which they call Darkness. Not a single soul dares to enter the city, fearing the real evil: eyewitnesses talk about unusual animals in the vicinity of Lorwich and the dark fog hanging over it. The reason for the flooding, however, is still shrouded in mystery. Many years have passed since the disaster, and the city has long been forgotten. Residents in a hurry left their destroyed homes, and overnight Lorwich was empty. Once prosperous at the expense of a mining enterprise, it fell victim to a terrible flood that destroyed the mines and all other buildings. The game "Alone in the Dark: Illumination" takes place in the abandoned town of Lorwich in southern Virginia.
